A Montana-take on Mexican-style hot chocolate
Our High Desert Drinking Chocolate is a take on Mexican-style hot chocolate, and the recipe is pretty simple: we grind up our 70% dark chocolate and then add warm spices. A recipe for enjoying a rich cup is on the back of the package, and the front of our package features artwork from Tián Millán, who is a graphic designer out of Mexico City. We told Tián what we were working on, and he came back with a collection of concepts, one of which were these four cacti which are in the style of traditional Mexican engravings. We hope you enjoy the drinking chocolate, and the art!
You can buy our drinking chocolate in two sizes: a 2.83-ounce bag for $9 or an 8-ounce bag for $22. You save about 13% per ounce when you buy the larger bag. Below is one of our favorite recipes for making a rich and beautifully simple hot chocolate that is perfect for sipping in the evening.
Our Favorite Recipe
Bring 3/4 cup of your favorite milk to a light simmer (on your stove, in your wall tent, or in your camp stove). Add 2 tablespoons of this hot chocolate mix and whisk until the chocolate is completely melted. This recipe makes about 1 serving and you can dial the amount of chocolate up and down to your liking!

We make dark chocolate from just two ingredients: specialty cacao and organic cane sugar.
Transparent Trade
Transparent Trade
To us, "transparent trade" means knowing the people in our cacao supply chain and making sure those folks get fairly compensated for their time, energy, and expertise.
Sustainable Packaging
Sustainable Packaging
We are plastic-free and work hard to create nice packaging that is also recyclable or compostable. The clear bag inside of our chocolate boxes is made of cellulose so it is curbside compostable!
